M7N Multi Spring Pusher Mechanical Seals Replacement for EagleBurgmann M7N Pusher Seal
The Formax M7N is a compact, unbalanced, single mechanical seal with a rotating wave spring and O-ring secondary seals.
Its direction-independent design is suitable for compatible chemical pumps, water and wastewater pumps, and other rotating equipment handling lubricating fluids or media with low solids content.
Seal dimensions, face materials and operating conditions must be verified for each application.
- Product Overview
The M7N mechanical seal uses a rotating wave spring to apply the closing force that maintains contact between the seal faces. O-rings provide secondary sealing, while the drive components transmit torque to the rotating face.
The compact rotating assembly simplifies handling and installation. Face materials, elastomers and metal components are selected according to the fluid, temperature, pressure and equipment dimensions.
For applications requiring a multiple-spring design, an M74 configuration may be considered separately.
- Design Features
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Seal Arrangement | Single mechanical seal |
| Seal Type | O-ring pusher seal |
| Balance | Unbalanced |
| M7N Spring Design | Rotating wave spring |
| Direction of Rotation | Independent of shaft rotation direction |
| Secondary Sealing | O-rings |
| Construction | Compact rotating assembly |
| Media Selection | Suitable for compatible lubricating fluids and low-solids media |
| Related Configuration | M74 multiple-spring design, subject to separate specification |
- Operating Parameters
| Parameter | HJM7N Catalogue Specification |
|---|---|
| Shaft Size
Maximum Operating Pressure |
14—200 mm; selected sizes and dimensional variants
25 bar / 2.5 MPa / approximately 363 psi |
| Operating Temperature | −50 to +220°C / −58 to +428°F |
| Maximum Sliding Velocity | 20 m/s / approximately 66 ft/s |
| Shaft Diameter | Refer to the confirmed dimensional drawing and size table |
| Direction of Rotation | Bidirectional |
Operating limits depend on seal size, material combination, fluid properties and installation conditions. Maximum pressure, temperature and sliding velocity must not be assumed to apply simultaneously.
- Material Options
| No. | Component | Catalogued Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stationary Seat | Silicon carbide, aluminium oxide ceramic, cemented carbide |
| 2 | Secondary O-Ring | NBR, FKM/FPM, HNBR |
| 3 | Rotating Seal Face | Carbon graphite, silicon carbide, cemented carbide |
| 4 | Secondary O-Ring | NBR, FKM/FPM, HNBR |
| 5 | Thrust Ring | Stainless steel 304 or 316 |
| 6 | Spring | Stainless steel 304 or 316 |
| 7 | Drive Collar | Stainless steel 304 or 316 |
Material combinations must be selected for the operating medium and duty. Additional elastomers, face materials or corrosion-resistant alloys require confirmation before quotation.
- Typical Applications
| Industry or Duty | Typical Equipment |
|---|---|
| Chemical Processing | Chemical process pumps and compatible centrifugal pumps |
| Water and Wastewater | Water pumps and suitable sewage pumps |
| Pulp and Paper | Compatible process and circulation equipment |
| Marine Applications | Suitable onboard pump systems |
| Lubricating Fluid Service | Pumps handling compatible lubricating oils |
| General Industrial Service | Vertical screw pumps, gear feed pumps and drive-side positions of multistage pumps |
Application suitability depends on fluid chemistry, solids content, lubrication and operating conditions. Crystallising fluids, concentrated slurries and abrasive media require a separate engineering review.
For food-processing applications, confirm the suitability and required documentation of all wetted materials.
- M7N and Related Configurations
| Configuration | Principal Difference | Product-Page Treatment |
|---|---|---|
| M7N | Wave-spring single seal | Main product on this page |
| M74 | Multiple-spring single seal | Related product or separately specified variant |
| M74-D | Double mechanical seal | Separate product page |
| Supplier M74R Design | Modified drive-lug geometry | Separate supplier-specific configuration; confirm drawings and performance evidence |
- Replacement Selection
For an EagleBurgmann M7N replacement enquiry, provide the complete existing seal designation and installation drawing. Compare the shaft diameter, rotating assembly dimensions, stationary seat design, installed working length and material specification.
A shared model designation does not establish interchangeability. Compatibility must be confirmed for the exact configuration before ordering.
| Information Required | Details |
|---|---|
| Existing Seal | Manufacturer, complete designation and material codes |
