- Product Overview
The MG9 mechanical seal combines a rotating elastomer bellows with a spring-loaded face assembly. The bellows provides secondary sealing and axial flexibility to help maintain contact between the seal faces.
The unitised rotating assembly simplifies handling and installation. Conical or cylindrical spring configurations and installation lengths are selected to match the equipment requirements.
This page covers single-seal replacement selection. Tandem or back-to-back arrangements require separate specification of the seal chamber, operating pressures and supporting fluid system.

- Dimensions & Size Selection
The dimensional table covers selected shaft diameters from 10 to 100 mm. Compare the complete installation dimensions with the existing seal and equipment drawing before ordering. Shaft diameter alone does not establish replacement compatibility.
All dimensions are in millimetres. d1 is the shaft diameter and L1 is the installed working height. Read the remaining dimension symbols together with the corresponding seal drawing.

- Typical Applications
| Application | Typical Equipment |
|---|---|
| Water Supply | Water pumps and compatible pipeline pumps |
| Water Circulation | Circulating pumps and cooling-fluid pumps |
| Wastewater Treatment | Suitable wastewater and submersible pumps |
| Chemical Processing | Compatible chemical transfer and process pumps |
| Pulp and Paper | Suitable circulation and process pump duties |
| Multistage Pump Service | Compatible non-drive-side seal positions |
| General Industrial Service | Suitable oil and other liquid-handling equipment |
Pump type alone does not establish suitability. Review the seal chamber dimensions, fluid properties and operating conditions for each installation.
Food, beverage and pharmaceutical applications require separate verification of wetted materials and any applicable hygiene or material documentation requirements.
- Media Compatibility
The MG9 may be considered for water, selected wastewater streams, cooling fluids, oils and other compatible low-solids liquids.
Chemical solutions, biodiesel-related fluids and mildly corrosive media require a review of fluid composition, concentration, temperature and material compatibility. Pulp-containing or abrasive fluids require an assessment of solids content and particle characteristics.
No single face pairing or elastomer is suitable for all listed media.
- EagleBurgmann MG9 Replacement Compatibility
The Formax MG9 is offered for selected EagleBurgmann MG9 replacement applications. Confirm the installation dimensions, face pairing, elastomer specification and operating duty before ordering.
A matching model designation or shaft diameter does not establish interchangeability. The stationary seat design, installed working height, spring configuration and seal arrangement must also match the equipment requirements.
| Compatibility Check | Information Required |
